Thoughts From The East Coast
After an intensely slow and painfully boring 5-hour flight, Mr.M and I arrived safe and sound on eastern ground. The first thing we did was to have a big dinner with some relatives. After the big meal, we came back to the luxurious home here on Chesapeake Bay. I sat on the deck overlooking the bay, enjoying the lightning show. I realized that lightning that was so enjoyable for me to watch, was probably endangering sailors who may be out tonight, having to navigate a storm. I thought about how often the Bible uses the illustration of a storm at sea to paint a picture of the Christian life. I thought specifically of Peter, when Jesus commanded him to step casually out of his boat and on to a raging sea. He was fine, the waves didn't affect him at all or impede his progress as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. This world, with its waves of doubt and uncertainty will try and try to knock us down, and make us question our Savior, but the waves won't overwhelm us as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus.

Wow, I was just thinking about the same thing this evening. Crazy how God uses our circumstances to make us look to Him, but so often we don't get it--instead looking to the circumstances. Crazy, crazy, crazy.
Dim recesses of my mind the saying, Keep your eyes on the Master and not on the water
