Sharing Your Light

Matthew 5:15 says that no one puts a lamp under a bowl. "Instead, they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house." Most of us know that these verses are Jesus telling us to act right. I think these verses also have massive implications for how we relate to others in the church. Jesus tells us to share our light with everyone in the house. I take this to mean that we help others to shine. Maybe our church needs a guitarist to help with Sunday worship. We know our friend Herbert is an excellent guitarist who loves Jesus and is always willing to serve the Church. So, we call up Herbert and say, "Hey, we need a guitarist Sunday, and you are an excellent guitarist. Will you help us out?" Herbert is our "light", and by asking him to help with worship, we are putting him on the "stand" so that he can "give light to everyone in the house."
