Gray Times.
Mr.M and I are in the hospital watching his mom sleep and waiting for the doctor, waiting because there are vital questions and no answers. Life is pretty gray here, which is hard and uncomfortable, because life is easier to think of as being either black or white. This moment is a mix of black and white, good news coming on the heels of bad news, and the two sometimes overlapping. My friend was extremely correct in saying that there are always good times and bad times, and we can only hope and pray that there are more good times than bad. I would just add that we do well to look for some good, even in bad times. I don't know who said, "Into every life, a little rain must fall.", but Job said it first, and said it better when he asked rhetorically if we could take good from God without also taking some bad. (I would also like to note that the theme song from the totally rad 80s show, The Facts of Life, affirms that The most basic fact of life is that "You take the good, you take the bad, and there you have the facts of life.")
