The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Maybe it was just all the stuff weighing on my heart lately, but I did something I rarely do last night-I watched a horror movie; and even more weird, I actually enjoyed it-more than just enjoyed it. It seemed to me to be very allegorical of the spiritual battle that Christians fight throughout our lives. There was a very evil and headless henchman who was controlled and directed in his evil actions by a despicable overlord, who was bound to him by agreement. The evil and bloodthirsty henchman was only as evil as his commander allowed, actually commanded, him to be. The whole scenario reminded me of Satan and his minions on earth, sowing deception and lies to naive people at the bidding of the father of lies himself. I am reading Know the Truth by Bruce A. Milne, and seeing how diligent Christians must be in our pursuit of the truth, and how sincere in our love for it. Satan is active in going about seeking whom he can devour. How much more active must we be in not letting ourselves be devourable? Thanks be to our Good Shepherd that He keeps and protects His own, but we need to learn to recognize His voice, and follow only His sweet and tender commands.

Thanks be, indeed.
So true! Thank you for the reminder.
Sorry to hear your heart is still weighed down...I pray that it would be encouraged and lifted up instead. I hope you hear some good news, and/or see some good responses to your prayers. You are such an encouragement to others, and yet you need encouragement yourself.
Horror movies aren't my kind of thing--and still, to think you can find a reminder of our need for Christ while watching one! That is a good thing.
The last part of your entry reminds me of the song "The Voice of Truth"--and that's the voice we need to be tuned in to, for encouragement and so we can stand firm. Do you love that song as I do?
I have yet to see that movie...
I haven't seen it either...
Totally blew your cover, man! NO WAY two different people would respond at the very same minute. If your'e going to try and be a sneak, you've got to cover your tracks a little better than that!
I actually posted a comment on Sarah W.'s blog at the exact same time The Intern did. So it is possible. But TK, I do agree. I've seen anonymous comment right in sequence with your comments, too many times before. Sorry man, but you've blown your cover.
yeah i toadily agrea.
REALLY??? Plagiarism, stealing others' misspellings and sneaky little tricks? Youv'e got to be more creative with your alter ego-make it yours--OWN IT.
TK dude, looks like your'e getting whipped by a couple of feisty chicks. Girls!!

JenM,
Last winter we took our Tim to the movie, Polar Express. It gives quite the sales job for believing in Santa Claus, and on the way home, Tim was kind of buying into it. (We haven't actively promoted Santa with him as more than just a fun myth.) I don't remember what he said, but at that moment "The Voice of Truth" by Casting Crowns started playing on the radio. Good timing! We got to discuss contrasting the "voice" of the movie vs. the voice of the real meaning of Christmas. Since then, I think of that moment whenever I hear the song. Via your comment on my blog I see you haven't heard it. Need to! is all I can say. I was going to post it here but found that the lyrics are quite long. So I'll put it on my blog for you...good stuff!
