I said many moons ago that I was planning to summit Mt. Everest; what I really want to do is summit Mt. Zion . . . to ascend God's holy hill. I found detailed instructions in Psalm 15:
walk blamelessly
do what is righteous
speak truth from your heart
have no slander on your tongue
do your neighbor no wrong
cast no slur on your fellow man
despise a vile man
honor a God-fearing man
keep your word even when it hurts
lend money without interest
do not hurt the cause of the innocent
These are the qualities of one who lives on God's holy hill, one who lives a life of worship and praise. I know it won't be easy, and it will take much patience, prayer, and practice. So few can do it, it makes Mt. Everest look like a snap. I know it will be worth any suffering, pain, temptation or trial, though, for the heights of Mt. Zion are a great place from which to gaze upon the God's beauty.

So to practice for that, you don't need to carry a heavy load of musical instruments on your back around the block?
carrying musical instruments on your back never hurts, no matter what your goal! It could actually come in very handy, and even helpful in your goal of being a kind and generous neighbor if you chance to bump into someone who happens to need, say, a french horn.
Yes, you can never overstate the value of being prepared for any occasion. Like I remind everyone in "Hoodwinked",
Be prepared, be prepared, this lesson must be shared. And unless you've got a spare . . . you've got one life for livin', so prepare . . . da,da,da,da,dee . . .
What I meant was----
Be prepared, be prepared, this lesson must be shared. And unless you've got a spare . . . you've got one life for livin', so handle it with care . . . da,da,da,da,dee . . .
How right you are in comparing these two mountains.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Hey, I sent you an email. Could you let me know that you've received it?
Yes...no mountain is easy to climb...especially spiritual ones. But step by step, we will ascend that holy hill by God's grace until the day comes to full fruition!
PS...THANKS for the socks Jen!
I don't know if many are familiar with the turtle in "Hoodwinked" that at one point in the movie exclaims, "RUN!" and then slowly takes his first step. Well, that's how I feel upon this climb to Mt. Zion. I want to do whatever it takes to scale it, but God is faithful to remind me of my utter incapability of doing it on my own. The journey is long, hard, and painfully slow at times. But I KNOW the view from there will be to die for (pun intended)Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand (Psalm 73:23)!!!!
