Friendship Stories #14, Historical Friends

I can't believe I saw Simone today! The song that keeps playing in my head is, "I couldn't be happier" from the Wicked soundtrack. Simone and I were never really super close, but being that we saw each other every week for over a year, she is like a sister to me. When I saw her at church, it was like going back in time. It really felt like she hadn't moved years ago; all that time in between was erased. We made tentative plans to catch up over coffee. It is not at all like the nervousness that accompanies meeting up with a new friend. I already know and love Simone, and she knows and loves me. This was not an isolated event of the summer. My best college buddy, Jasmine, who I know in much the same way (by being in the same place, at the same time, for years) also came back to visit, and after a wonderful impromptu reunion at church, I was able to go to her family's home and visit with her right up to the minute she left for the airport.

Writing this friendship series has really made me realize how God has blessed me so abundantly by putting amazing people in my life. I would highly recommend taking time to slow down and take stock of your life, and thank God for the things you may take for granted.
