I absolutely love to sing. My singing is awful and atrocious, but I love to sing, so I do it anyway. I have a long history of singing friends. Still, the only person I am comfortable singing with is Gloria Estefan. Ah, Gloria! I remember when I first heard her voice; Mr. M and I had just begun dating, and he was playing her album, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" in the car. He was happy driving in his Firebird, unaware of the beautiful voice coming from the speakers. That date came to an end, but we were soon wed, and my first act as Mrs.M was to confiscate that album, as I don't think he was appreciating it as it deserves to be appreciated. I have since collected all of Gloria's albums.
The first friend I made as an adult has an amazing voice. She is a professional singer, and now mostly sings for church events. Being married to an audio engineer, though, I've had the privilege of listening in on the recording sessions she's done in our home. Her singing has brought me to tears more than once.
I also have another friend who sang professionally in a mariachi band. She sang "Bésame Mucho" to me on one of my birthdays, and I was over the moon. Years later I still enjoy the video of it.
Having no ability to carry a decent tune myself, I have always made it a goal of mine to maintain a high number of singing friends. I was recently surprised to learn that a long-time friend of mine is a singer. That was a relief, since my number of singing friends has dwindled over the years. I love my singing friends; they may move or stop singing, but I'll always have Gloria.

I like singing. I also subscribe to the philosophy that lack of talent is no obstacle as long as you make up for it with volume.
Good for you--I'm just kinda' glad we don't go to the same church.
