Gospel Attraction

A friend recently asked me what first attracted me to the Gospel. I was first attracted to the Gospel by the uproar surrounding it in the 16th century. I wanted to know more about the book that was causing such a hub bub and a kerfufle. I was intrigued by the huge imbalance of power between the Roman Catholic church and the few brave people who defied it. Many died to get the Gospel to the common man, and I wanted to know what the big deal was. I wanted to get in on the fight, and I wanted to side with the underdog-in this case, the Protestants. Many of them died because of their strong and unwavering stance against the Catholic church. I simply wanted to know more about this book that was worth dying for. What was your first attraction to the Gospel?
