Huell Howser and the Art of Caring
Huell Howser, maybe without meaning to be, was very funny. My mom loved Huell. In fact, she took him on a tour of the town where I was born and raised. Huell was unexpectedly enthusiastic about things that few cared about - like some useless piece of information, or why someone decided to choose to wear tennis shoes on a particular day. He was, like my mom, not too cool to care. It seems to me that there is a coolness about apathy. It seems that to truly be considered cool, one has to be completely selfish, only caring about themselves and their interests. This is so unbiblical. We are told to care about the interests of others. Do you know what interests your friends and family? I think we could all benefit from looking outwards, and asking our friends about their lives and interests.
