Reading in the Sun

After washing my hair, I sat outside in the sun to let it dry, and I did some reading. I was reading about technology and thinking about all the people I don't call. I have been made, more than once, to feel like an unwelcome intrusion, and inconvenient interruption. When I am with a friend and they get a call, and after a minute they start making hand gestures as if to say, "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH . . . ", frustrated that someone has called them with the intention of talking to them, I would be foolish to think that my friend doesn't do the same thing when I call. So I don't. We all want our relationships on our own terms, and we like to talk to our friends when it is convenient for us. This attitude seems completely contradictory to Phil. 2:1-4 where we are told to "consider others better than ourselves" and to "look not only to our own interests, but to those of others."
