More on Faith

In Luke 22:31&32, Jesus says to Simon Peter, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." These verses tell us so many things. The most precious thing I find in these verses is that Jesus prays for us. He knows our weaknesses. David says God knows that we are but dust. Another amazing and encouraging thing is that we know Jesus' prayers will be answered. He doesn't say IF you turn back, but WHEN you turn back. Our faith is in His hands, and He will not fail us. He keeps our faith safe for us. John 10 tells us that He will not lose any of His own. And we know His prayers are answered, because He tells us that in John 15. We can also be assured from these verses that a failure in our faith will not be permanent. Not only will the elect never lose their faith, we will also return from a temporary weakness or failing in our faith in such a manner that we can strengthen our brothers. When we feel our faith waver, we return to the Lord knowing that we are not the only ones who waver in our faith sometimes, so we find others who struggle with the same issues and encourage each other, pray, and hold each other accountable. Let us continually entrust Jesus with the faith He's given us. He alone is able to keep and protect it for eternity.

Like Paul said... "I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto Him against that day!" Praise Him for His sustaining power!
