A Need for Discernment

After a day filled with reading several of these biographical sketches, it is clear that this book is very ecumenical.  Many of the women featured were rebels against authority.  Some thought the best way to commune with God was by spending their lives in a small, dark cell.  Some starved themselves, some refused to live with the men they married.  This book calls for much discernment on the part of the reader.  That the biographies are of women is not up for debate; whether or not these women should be considered "heroines of the faith", though, is an entirely different matter.
