I’ve found that my dog waits until the end of the day, until he’s certain that we’re not going to take him for a walk, to poop. I usually walk him in the morning, and he does his thing in the glorious light of the morning sun. However, on days like today, when I happened not to be able to take him for a walk until the evening (on account of our being on vacation), I believe he had all his “stuff” saved up inside of him, holding it all in until he could release it in the wild grass that grows in the parks. Apparently, it is infinitely superior to doo all those dogly dooties in the great outdoors-the great PUBLIC outdoors. Anyone can go in their own back yard! What’s the fun in THAT?!?
I read Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck on our vacation in the homeland of that author, and he writes many observations of his dog. That may have inspired this post.

This will be lost on cat people. But I get it.
Luv you, Jen.
Nice post! LOL! Dog poop ;)
He's a schminkler, a scmoozler and a poo-poobler too!
pooooop
It's good to know all my cyber friends can appreciate a good observation of my dear Rufus' pooping schedule. I'd find it difficult to be friends with someone who couldn't, or wouldn't, talk about that.
TK, your verbose comment reminds me of a game of Taboo we played in college at the house of a very proper senior staff couple in college. The word was "pigeon". The only descriptive word my friend could think of was, "Poooop!" He just kept looking around the room yelling,"Poooop!!!", and looking completely mystified that no one was guessing pigeon. Obviously, pooop=pigeon.
Or my dog.
hahaha... that is too funny... I would love to have seen the faces...
JenM,
Based on your comment (and your post), I am convinced that you and my Tim have what it takes to be amazing friends. He's an 8-year-old boy. Does that explain it?
What does that say about me-having the interests of an 8-year-old boy?
Have you noticed that dogs have no qualms about pooping in public, but yet they like to eat in privacy especially when given favorite treats?
Truly mindboggling.
Interesting . . . we humans love eating in public, yet wouldn't consider pooping in public. Maybe it's a case of opposites attract.
Jen, you made me laugh. Opposites attract. LOL!
