I Love Cell Phone Laws!

I like knowing that it is now somewhat less likely that a distracted driver will pull out in front of me, or cut me off. To complete the picture, I think it should also be illegal to eat, shave, brush your teeth (yes, I've seen it!), or read a newspaper while driving. I also think any button-pushing or CD changing while driving should be made illegal. You don't need a new CD midway through a 10-minute drive!! Either just be content for 5 more minutes with the CD that's playing, or free your earspace of noise altogether. It is very possible to go 5 minutes-and even longer!-without having a phone on your ear, or music in your ear. Try it-you'll like it. You might even find out you're smarter than you thought, and you might think thoughts you've never thought before. (As for me, I'm still going to drive as little as possible, so that I will have fewer opportunities of losing my life.)

One of the Grace to You customer service girls was habitually late. They even put a device on her computer that would not allow her to log in when she was late, she had to go to our manager. She was known on more than one occassion to drive to work while balancing a bowl of cereal between her knees. (I think her car must have been an automatic) I rode with her ONE TIME when we were having a customer service birthday lunch; only ONE TIME.
This was a long time ago...no one would even remember her now. This was even before the popularity of cell phones. Heaven only knows what she is like now.

For some us, filling our earspace with noise is charitable work. If you'd ever seen my mind at work, you'd understand it's better for all of us if I have constant noise to distract me from thinking.

Nice Nathan. I like that. It's probablly true for many of us. But I do like your thought, Jen...sometimes I do need to just let it be quiet on the way home in the car...even on my 30 minute (gasp) drive. Yes, no music for the 30 minutes. I hope I can do it. I'll let you know how it goes.
