Does God Want Us To Be Friends With Everyone?

I thought I was going to get away with just writing something funny, and blissfully ignoring my illness once again. But God had other plans. He brought to mind a friend from the past and some issues I've been thinking through this summer. This friend from the past said some very hurtful things about my symptoms, and showed great and incomprehensible insensitivity, and she didn't want to try and make things right when I told her how she had hurt me with her words. In my reading and rereading of Proverbs, I am fully convinced that God does not want us to be friends with everyone. We are instructed in several verses to avoid a hot-tempered person, and to be very careful-choosy-about who we spend time with. This is so freeing, knowing that God approves-and even commands!-that we choose our friends wisely.
