Fiery Darts

Some smart person told me years ago that when people say hurtful things to us, we can either choose to let their words wound us like an arrow or we can let those arrows dissolve in the atmosphere. Thinking of that Biblically, I can see how, in the past, even before I was a Christian, God shielded me from the hurtful word-arrows that were thrown at me. He had chosen me from eternity to be one of His own, and He protected me even before I knew to thank Him. I now know those fiery darts and hurtful words that seemed to be coming from the mouths of people actually originated from Satan. The devil uses various schemes and hurtful words to keep us away from God. Thank God that He protects us, even from birth, even before we come to know Him. Psalm 18:2 "[God] is my shield . . . my stronghold."
