Called to the Light

In the light, we live. In the darkness, we die. The two cannot occupy the same space. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. When darkness invades our world, and those dark feelings overwhelm and oppress us, we struggle to get rid of them. We fight to keep the dark out and fill our worlds with light-with God. In the bad feelings, the oppression, during the struggle, that is when we know we are called to live in God's light. Darkness is bad and ugly and we fight to make it go away, but the very tension that we feel when it is present is proof that we were called out of the dark, called to leave it behind and live in the light. As awful as the oppression of darkness is, it is those awful feelings that confirm to us that we are children of God, meant to live in the light. As Christians, we fight and war against spiritual powers of darkness. Others, those who don't believe in Christ, may just sit comfortably with feelings of darkness. The darkness doesn't bother them enough to make them want to fight it and make it go away. They are children of the devil, and they love the dark. They live in it. I thank God that I hate dark feelings, and that I cannot live with them. I'm thankful for the struggle, the desire to rid my life of any darkness. I fight to stay in the light, the light of God. I fight for life, life with God. Are you fighting?

1 John speaks often of light vs. dark if you want to study this.

Thanks for leaving comments. It's been a hard week, so this post was a pretty personal one.
