A Dachshund and A Doberman

My friend tells me of her life growing up on a rural farm. She had 4 dachshunds that she walked daily. On their walk, the dogs would always bark at the neighbor's doberman. All my friend could do was shake her head and wonder if her dumb dachshunds could somehow seriously believe that they could take on a doberman. This is a good illustration of Psalm 2, where the writer speaks of the absolute futility of nations striving against God. God's response to the nations is to laugh at them and scoff. "Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them . . . " How absurd it is to be scared of the temporal and limited power of earthly kings and authorities! With the strong and dignified woman of Pro. 31, we who trust in the eternal God can all laugh at the future. (Proverbs 31:25.) What power can any man hold to cause us fear? God is on our side, fighting for us, and we know He will win.
