Anonymous Initmacy-Thoughts on Social Media

Shane Hipps said it so well. In Flickering Pixels, he writes, "Intimacy happens the moment we are invited to the exclusive VIP room of another person's life. Intimacy always follows the statement, 'I'm going to tell you something I've never told anyone before.' The moment [that information] is available to anyone and everyone is the moment intimacy begins to evaporate.'"

Do you agree or disagree with this statement? I wholeheartedly agree, as I tried to make clear in a silly story about dandelions. Shane's book has given me much to think about, and some of my thinking will have me evaluating friendships, and will also undoubtedly change my use of social media.

Just off the top of my head it seems to me that true intimacy has to go two ways... 1:1 ratio, a sharing, going back and forth. I don't know...I need to think about it more. :)
