Good Days and Bad Days

We all have them-good days and bad days. Physically, emotionally, spiritually; but also socially. At least in my life, I have noticed that I have days where I can totally track with my friends and participate intelligently in conversation, occasionally making a good and timely and appropriate joke and asking good, clarifying questions that provoke some good thoughts. But I also have bad social days. I haven't been able to pin down a cause, but all my social interactions will just be a big flop. Maybe I won't be able to follow the conversation, or I'll make a joke and my friends just look at me sideways (like the RCA dog) and scratch their heads. I just don't know what to say or do, so I just try to keep my mouth shut and stare straight ahead like a stupid goldfish. I can only be grateful that my friends who encounter me on a bad social day are usually willing to give me a second chance. (I do think coffee helps, and that is why so many good conversations happen at coffee houses.)

Ah! Nicely written. I love it, especially the "RCA dog"!
