Last night, I heard a sermon on spiritual gifts and that we, as believers, all have a part to play in the Church. We are all accountable, not only for ourselves and our own spiritual growth, but we are called to help others grow toward Christlikeness. That is why I share with you, my faithful readership (who may or may not exist), books that I have found helpful in my own walk with God. That is my gift to you. You're welcome.
A friend recommended this book. It is about history, women, and the church. It is about historical women in the church. It is about church women throughout history. It is about women who shaped the church's history. I like all of those things: women, history, and church. (Actually, I ONLY like history when it is attached to women and the church. I will happily read about men in the church, but we all know women add so much flair and excitement and color and vivacity to any topic.) I have been spending all of my reading hours for the last 5 months reading parenting books (which could never happen without women), and that has been very helpful, and that is who I am now-a parent, but I am also a woman, a woman who likes to read and be knowledgeable about women in the history of church, and the history of the church's interaction with women, and the influence women have historically had in the church. I like to think of myself as a well-rounded reader, a woman with wide horizons. I will be rushing to finish my current parenting book while I await the arrival of Feminine Threads.
