Activity Awareness Month

I've named the 2nd half of June and all of July Activity Awareness Month. My plan is to DO less, while being more aware and appreciative of the things I do DO. (I guess some people call that living in the moment.) I'm going to read fewer books, but let the ones I do read really challenge my thoughts and leave an impact on my soul. I'll watch less TV, but let the TV I do watch provoke insightful thoughts. It is my opinion that the majority of us suffer from sensory overload, collecting all sorts of facts, but not taking the time to process them or find out how, or if, our facts can benefit us. What are your facts doing for you? Are you allowing time for your soul to be refreshed?

Ahhh, this is a challenge for me, currently, as I am surrounded by moving boxes. When I do have too much going on around me, and I don't allow myself the time to appreciate and "be in the moment", I notice a personality change, and NOT FOR THE BETTER! What am I doing to help relieve some of that? Taking it ONE MOVING BOX AT A TIME. And, celebrating each box that I unpack. Also, leaving sticky notes around the house of things that I need to fix or do, so that I am not carrying it all around in my brain. "New towel rack here", or "fix hot water", etc. Otherwise, it all becomes too overwhelming. And, telling myself that it does not all have to get done at once, even though I would like it to, and I have a 15 year old son who nags me like an old lady!!! It's the "Morrissette" in him. Sorry but true!

true 'dat. these same ideas came up today in a conversation. i'm not sure that its a matter of taking the time or a matter of interest. we're all so obsessed with frivolity and escape that engaging the mind and heart in serious considerations now feel tiresome and almost require more effort than we're willing to exert. i think sometimes i need to force myself to solitude and to reflect on eternal things. of course, i hope this doensn't mean that keeping up with the kardashians is out. one needs some comedic relief ;)

Never let it be said of the M household that we have not kept up with the Kardashians!
