Friendship Stories #9, When a Picture Just Isn't Enough

I watched a fireworks display with my friend, When, last week. I asked her to remind me about when we first met in high school. She said I was volunteering at the church library at the time. (I remember that.) She came in and was introduced to me by a friend. She said I was cranky. (I don't remember that.) (In my defense, I was a teenager, and crankiness is the language of teenagers.) Apparently, that wasn't the only time I was cranky with When. She says I was consistently cranky with her, but that it made her like me. I have fuzzy college and newly married memories of When, with pictures to prove it, and memories of visiting her with her firstborn. I see When more often now (like when we spend hours talking at a coffee shop and forget to get any coffee), and I don't think I'm cranky with her anymore . . . but you'll have to ask her.

"When" loves this retelling of your friendship together! I heard that it was When's second-born, but the telling is spot-on and always so much more fun to hear from your perspective. Getting lost in Palmdale is always fun, too - sadly, When lacks a proper sense of direction. I don't mind if you don't!

It IS funny. I thought about that, too, but I don't think it has any significance . . . other than that we may be doomed to wander the desert forever in search of an open coffee shop and never find one.
