Facing the Future

Every life ends in death; no one escapes it. The thought of death is never too far from my mind. Too many friends and family members have died to let me forget about death's thievery, or to think of death as something that only happens to the old. The future, unknown as it is, can be a scary thing to think about. A wise woman, though, can smile at thoughts of her future and embrace it with joy. (Proverbs 31:25) Thoughts of the future don't have to be scary. We need not fear aging or death. If we live with strength and dignity, being productive and living in God's wisdom, we can also smile and embrace our futures with joy.
