Home is Where the Heart is at Rest.

Now that I have a bird feeder, I feel like I know something about country living. As we walked and talked today, my friend and I were discussing what comprises country living, what defines it. A lot of the country living blogs and magazines I read feature recipes and cooking . . . which makes sense; if you have a lot of land, you grow food, and when you gather that food, you make delicious things. It seems to me, though, that the heart of country living is being at home and loving it. It's about making your home the #1 place you want to be, regardless of size or location. That is a very Biblical ideal. Solomon says that a foolish woman is rarely at home. (Proverbs 7:11), and Paul says that a wise woman will love her home, and will work in it (Titus 2:5). Our homes are a refuge, and should always be places of pleasure and peace. That can happen in downtown Los Angeles, or it can be in a rural town in Idaho. Home is where the heart is . . . at rest.
