Vacationing In Bath

Several weeks ago, I watched the film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice. More recently, I read Persuasion by Jane, and watched the film adaptation of that movie the night before flying across the country to visit family. Parts of both Pride And Prejudice and Persuasion take place in Bath. From what I gather, Bath was a big party town, where large groups of friends and family went to socialize and enjoy a lively nightlife full of balls and operas and all the most popular fashion. So I left for my family gathering with Bath fresh on my mind. I now find myself feeling very much like a character from one of Jane Austen's books, amused, and sometimes sorely tried by, the wide variety of characters here. My nerves are definitely strained.
Being at the mercy of others definitely makes me appreciate having a home of my own to go back to, and makes me look forward to once again setting my own schedule and choosing the activities in which I want to participate and the company I choose to keep.

I'm thinking that I am going to have that same feeling when we return to states in Aug for 2 months...

Oof. I'm sorry; it's no fun. On the positive side, though, it definitely forces you to trust and rely on God. These visits always ramp up my prayer life. I'll be praying for you-I HAVE been praying for you, esp. on this trip when I was staring out the window enumerating the missionaries I know. Where will you spend the 2 months?
