Social Media is Very . . . Social

I just made a friend. I call that a productive Saturday morning. It is a fully cyber-friendship, plus a cousin of mine is in the mix. A few years ago, I made a big push to promote my blog. I joined a few meta-blogs and blogrolls, and through this I met the author of DogFur and Dandelions. We have a similar (eerily similar) wit and grammar-love and love for Jesus, and we soon became friends. We continued our friendship over on SpaceBook. I commented on something she wrote there, and when someone else commented on the same thing, SpaceBook told me this someone else is a friend of my cousin. WHAT??? So I inquired about this friend of my cousin's, and proceeded to think nothing more of her. (The someone else, not my cousin.) Today, I was doing a Saturday morning computer session, and went to a favorite blog of mine, Barefoot Hippie Girl. It came as no surprise when I saw that my friend from DogFur and Dandelions had left a comment. So I left a comment and then checked SpaceBook. This same someone else popped up again in a DF&D thread. I went to her page and lo! What did I find but that she is the author of Barefoot Hippie Girl! Now I have two friends who are authors. (There are more, and those stories are just as complicated and fun, but time limits me.) It's not even lunchtime, and I can already say that it has been a stellar day. Anyone who says writing is a solitary activity is sadly mistaken, as is anyone who says there is no good to be found in social media.

It is so cool how small the world is online. I love it. I have friends around the world.

I love that my sister just happened to be friends with friends/cousins of Amy Foreman, so now I am meeting neat gals like Amy and yourself! Facebook and blogs are amazing, I love them. I have a blog, too. My posts are few and far between due to time constraints but I wanna grow up and be a big girl blogger like YOU someday! =)

I'm going to bookmark your blog RIGHT NOW! It IS amazing how the internet has shrunken the world. I know both of you through a 3rd person serving in an oversea mission field.

I have no acceptable words that I can use to respond to that.
