Solipsism

Solipsism:  it's gotten me into trouble time and again.  It is assuming that everyone else thinks and feels the same way we do.  We all do it.  (Oops . . . there I go again.)  I do it; maybe you don't.  This is most troublesome for me in the area of friendships.  I assume all my friends esteem friendship as highly as I do, so I am very confused and frustrated when a friend suddenly stops making time for me.  In my mind, friends are a priority, and you always make time for them.  Not everyone has that view . . . and that is fine.  I just need to remember that; for my own sanity and happiness, I need to remember that not everyone shares my values.
