Communication

We all know that communication is necessary to any health relationship.  Having just spent a week hosting someone who speaks no English-granted, he IS a teenage boy, so hand gestures and monosyllabic grunts may be his preferred method of communication even when he's at home-takes that to a whole new level.  I'd never given much thought before to the many, many decisions we make every day, and how the ability to communicate makes it possible to eat what we want, choose our activities, laugh at jokes, and so much more.  Think about it:  if you went to Karfoodge and didn't speak Karfoodgian, how would you know what to order in a restaurant?  How would you ask the clerk at the store where to find pencils?  How would you know if a joke was funny?  Communication is essential to living comfortably with others.
