A Trip to Seattle

Mr. M & I may take an unexpected trip to Seattle sometime in the next couple of weeks.  We aren't planning the trip, but we are supposed to be expecting a call from someone telling us to book 2 tickets on the next flight to Seattle.  We would have to drop everything, hurriedly pack some things, and head north on a jet plane.  We would stay in a hotel near the hospital in Silverdale when we got there.  (Or with amazing friends.)  It will not be a sightseeing trip, nor will it be a vacation.  In fact, it will be the hardest work of our lives, filled with sleepless nights and exhausted days.  And we would not come home and resume our normal lives.  If all goes as planned, we will come home to a completely new and different life.  If all goes as planned, we will come home as a family of 3.
You see, a couple of days ago, I was sitting on the porch when I got a call from an adoption attorney.  He said a woman in Seattle had looked at our profile and had chosen us to be the parents of the baby she will have soon.  We signed a few papers, and now we wait for a call saying, "She's in labor.  Get your stuff and get on the next flight to Seattle.  Go straight to the hospital when you get there."
This adoption road is filled with ups and downs, so we don't want to get our hopes too high, but our lawyer is pretty confidant that this will work out, and that we'll be coming home from Seattle with a newborn baby.
