Mr. and Mrs. M's New Adventures in Wonderland
Our new life is totally different and unexpected, but we wouldn't change a thing. Our modern bedroom has become an impromptu nursery with a crib and changing table. Our kitchen has become a bottle -washing and sanitizing factory. Our spacious, clutter-free living room has a big play gym in the middle of the floor. Instead of Diet Coke in the fridge, there are rows of bottled breastmilk. Gone are spontaneous trips, replaced by days sitting at home waiting for the next feeding. I now know what 2 am looks like (and 4 am.) Our gym room/office has become a storage room for diapers and wipes. My most prized possession isn't any jewel, but an insulated bag. (If you want to make a mother happy, give her an insulated bag and ice packs. Being able to carry fresh bottles for your baby gives Mama the freedom to go places and keep Baby happy. Ask me if I would like a bar of gold, "No, thanks."; ask me if I want an insulated bag and I will jump for joy. I still can't believe our lives have changed forever. We now have new dreams, not of cruises or retirement, but of a boy who knows God living with us. We now pray for a son who will grow daily in the knowledge of God. I am saving the cards from the shower for our son so that he will know how many people love him and have been praying for him even before he was born. We have been so very, very blessed, not only to have a son, an eternal soul to care for, but also to be surrounded by so many loving and generous people. God has answered our prayers and made us the happy parents of this child of His.
